About the Course

Goal

Take learners from zero knowledge to confident everyday communication in বাাংলা through an immersive journey into one of the world's most expressive languages — the language of Tagore and Satyajit Ray. The course builds progressively from script and basic vocabulary to sentence formation, conversation, storytelling, and real-world Bengali communication.

Cracking the Code

The course begins with the foundations of Bengali script — vowels, consonants, vowel signs, and the inherent “o” sound. Learners develop essential survival vocabulary, numbers, greetings, family terms, and the Bengali Subject–Object–Verb sentence structure. The three levels of “you” — তুই, তুমি, আপমি — introduce learners to Bengali's cultural approach to respect and relationships.

Building Everyday Bengali

Learners expand their vocabulary through food, body parts, everyday actions, and common verbs while beginning to write personal sentences in Bengali script. Question words such as কী, কক, ককাথায়, কখি, and ককি help learners ask and answer real-world questions. Present continuous structures enable learners to describe ongoing actions and participate in simple interviews and connected conversations.

Time, Place & Real-Life Communication

The course progresses into past and future tense, natural ways of expressing refusal, and Bengali's distinctive postposition system. Learners practise describing places, navigating the city, using transport vocabulary, and handling everyday situations. A bazaar roleplay brings these skills together through realistic shopkeeper–customer conversations, while conjunct consonants and vocabulary related to emotions and weather deepen language familiarity.

Finding Your Flow

Learners begin developing continuous speaking and writing habits through three-minute self-talk, Bengali keyboard practice, diary-style writing, and conversation circles. Extended unscripted conversations encourage learners to communicate more naturally, while conditional structures such as যমি...তবব introduce more flexible and expressive communication.

Expressing Yourself

The final stage develops confidence in switching between formal and informal Bengali, sharing personal memories, and using professional vocabulary. Learners engage with Bengali news and podcasts, practise translation and discussion, participate in debates, and experience Bengali cinema without subtitles. The journey culminates in a structured 3-minute capstone speech delivered entirely in Bengali.
