About the Course

Goal

Take learners from their first 한글 letter to a confident TOPIK I mock exam in 한국어 — a language with a script logical enough to learn in a weekend and a culture that rewards respect — built not through drilling, but through meaning, context, and a genuine human being speaking it.

A1 Foundation: The Building Blocks

한글 is learned as a featural script mapping the mouth's own movements, followed by batchim, double consonants, and the art of bowing and greeting with 해요체. Particles bring identity into focus — 입니다/이에요/예요, 이/가 versus 은/는 — alongside classroom vocabulary and reading practice. Existence and location follow with 있어요/없어요 and 에, mapped onto real places and positions in the city, before present-tense conjugation, the object particle 을/를, Korea's two number systems, and telling time close the foundation.

A1+ to Early A2: Social Interaction

The past tense arrives with 았어요/었어요 and 에서, turning weekend activities into personal storytelling. Adjective conjugation, the ㅂ and ㄷ irregulars, and vocabulary for colours, weather, taste, and feelings are linked together with 그리고. Desires and shopping follow with ~고싶어요 and Korean counters, culminating in a market roleplay, before ~(으)ㄹ 수 있어요/없어요, polite prohibition, and hobbies vocabulary let students discuss what they can and cannot do.

A2 Elementary: Complexity & Function

Reasons and sequencing arrive with ~아서/어서 and ~고, applied to health, symptoms, and a pharmacy roleplay. Future plans with ~(으)ㄹ 거예요 and ~(으)러 가다 introduce travel and booking vocabulary, feeding into a Dream Trip presentation that runs through the final weeks. Collaborative suggestions with ~(으)ㄹ까요?, the honorific infix -(으)시-, and family terms prepare students for the finale: a TOPIK I mock listening and reading test, a one-on-one spontaneous speaking assessment, and the Dream Trip presentation delivered to the whole class — followed by graduation.
