About the Course

Goal

Take learners from zero knowledge to telling their own story in Italiano—the language of Dante and Fellini—through an immersive, phonetically rich journey into the heart of European culture and history.

Module 1: Finding Your Voice

• Focus: Breaking the phonetic code and mastering the foundational present tense of "Being" and "Having".

Core Topics & Highlights:

• Physical mechanics of Italian: vowel sounds, pure vowels, and soft "C" and "G" consonant drills.
• Core verbs (essere & avere), subject pronouns, and tonal inflection.
• Noun genders, masculine/feminine endings, and definite articles (il, la, lo).
• Regular -are, -ere, and -ire verb conjugation patterns.
• Essential vocabulary: survival greetings, numbers 1–20, adjectives, colors, food/drink, time/calendar, and family terms.
• Question words (chi, che, dove, quando, perché) to lead active conversations.

Practical Milestones & Roleplays:

• Self & partner introduction "stress test".
• 90-second descriptive speech on household environment and personal belongings.
• The "No-English" Café roleplay for ordering food, making requests, and handling bills.
• Module Capstone: 1-minute structured speech demonstrating A1 functional fluency.

Module 2: Navigating the World

• Focus: Expanding spatial, historical, commercial, and personal expression to interact confidently with the surrounding world.

Core Topics & Highlights:

• Urban navigation: spatial prepositions, city landmarks, transit (trains, buses, hotels), and modal verbs (volere, potere, dovere).
• Expressing the past: passato prossimo with avere and essere, irregular past participles, and time markers.
• Commerce & negotiation: numbers from 100 to 1,000,000, currency, shopping etiquette, and direct object pronouns (lo, la, li, le).
• Physical well-being: human body parts, common health ailments, reflexive verbs for daily routines, and medical/pharmacy vocabulary.

Practical Milestones & Roleplays:

• Virtual map navigation challenge through Rome using only verbal directions.
• Storytelling workshop recounting personal history or past trip events.
• High-intensity roleplay market simulation negotiating prices within a budget.
• Module Capstone: Survival simulation reporting lost items or health concerns to an official.

Module 3: Professional & Social Fluency

• Focus: Polishing register, complex logic, cultural nuance, and professional communication for total A2 confidence.

Core Topics & Highlights:

• Professional persona: formal vs. informal address (Lei vs. tu), workplace vocabulary, and the simple future tense (il futuro semplice).
• Logic & opinion: conditional mood (vorrei, potrei), linking words (although, therefore, however), and phrases for debate.
• Cultural immersion: regional idioms, comparative/superlative structures, media analysis, and listening comprehension through native podcasts/news.
• Review & refinement: high-speed grammar synthesis across past, present, future, and conditional tenses.

Practical Milestones & Roleplays:

• Professional elevator pitch explaining career background and future goals to a stakeholder.
• Classroom debate defending a social position using conditional logic.
• Italian cinema clip challenge without subtitles, evaluating dialogue and character motivations.
• Grand Finale Capstone: 3-minute capstone presentation on a topic of choice to graduate as a functional A2 speaker.
